Poolse militaire begraafplaats Lommel

Polish Military Cemetery

A simple iron gate with a path beyond and two rows of white graves on either side. 257 Polish soldiers who fell during the liberation of Belgium are buried in this serene cemetery.

The Polish Military Cemetery was established on the initiative of the British authorities. As a communal cemetery for all Polish soldiers who lost their lives in Belgium. The mortal remains from, among others, Ypres, Ghent, Stekene, Tielt, Roeselaere and Merksplas were transferred here and listed on the memorial wall. Marian Wnuk’s unusual, unique sculpture is close by.
