On and around the triangular Frankish Marketplace, there are a number of specific places of interest. The kiosk for example, or the antique water pump and the ‘Teut’ statue. ‘Teuten’ were travelling tradesmen in copperware. In the 17th and 18th century, quite a number of Teut-families lived in Lommel..

The unique triangular Marketplace with the Frankish town house is the location for a number of concerts and other activities. The Teut-market (a sort of jumble sale) is held here on every Sunday from April until October.

Behind the bright white walls of the centrally located and successfully renovated town house, there are two reception halls: the wedding-room and the council chamber. There is also an exhibition room on the ground floor.

Behind the Town House lies the Justice of the Peace Court and in front of it, a several metres tall obelisk of mirror glass. This unique work of art was donated at the occasion of the 1000th anniversary of our town in 1990 and it was unveiled by the late king Baudouin. It stands as a symbol for the local white sand exploitation and the resulting end-products like glass.
